Morris V Cummings, 80, of 901 Trinity Drive, a lifetime Harvey County resident and a retired Santa Fe Railway locomotive carpenter, died Saturday [Nov 19, 1988] at HCA Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at St Matthew's Episcopal Church, Newton, with the Rev Michael Combs officiating. He was the son of John A and Opal L Prouty Cummings. On Aug 15, 1927, he married Dorothy Weigand in Newton. She survives. He was a member of the church, the Elks Lodge and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen. He served in the state Guard for three years during World War II

Dorothy L Cummings, 87, 901 Trinity Drive, homemaker, died Monday [Nov 10,1997] at Columbia Halstead Hospital. She was the daughter of Joseph and Augusta Rosner Weigand. She attended the First Baptist Church in Newton and was a member of the Lady Elks in Newton. She and her mother had a seamstress shop on Main street for many years. She enjoyed sewing and doing alterations for many people. Survivors include: one daughter, Deborah of Newton; two sisters, Ruth Edwards of Portland , Ore., and Irene Knowles of Newton; and one grandson, James of Newton. She was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Weigand; two sisters, Wilhelmina Prouty and Ruby Kirkpatrick; and a half-sister, Ethel Kahler.
