She was the second child of Mary Rickman and David Anderson
She married William P. Turner September 13, 1871, in Clearmont county, Ohio. Within a year the couple came to Kansas with her parents.
America gave birth to a baby girl named Sarah, June 11, 1872. America died of childbirth fever June 30, 1872, and baby Sarah died September 22, 1872. America was originally buried on her mother's farm , her mother later moved her to Greenwood.

The funeral services of Amanda Arminta Turner was held Sunday afternoon from the Second Baptist Church and was largely attended by friends of Mr and Mrs Turner. Rev W H Garnett conducted the service. The floral offerings were many and handsome.
Amanda Turner was born in White County Tenn., October 13, 1857 and came to the state of Kansas with her parents in the year of 1877, and was married to W P Turner, October 13, 1879. To them were born two sons, Alvin L and William C Turner. The eldest Alvin L resides in Newton Kansas and William C resides in Emporia. Both were at her bedside when the end came. She departed this life May the 8th.
At the time of her death she was 51 years of age, she was the eldest of ten children, of whom five brothers and one sister survive her. With these she leaves a husband, two sons, a mother, a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
She united with the Baptist church in 1884 and lived the Christian life. She was a loving wife and devoted mother.
We love her yes we love her, But Jesus loved her more, And he has sweetly called her, To yonder shining shore. The golden gates were opened, A gentle voice said "Come" And with farewells unspoken She calmly entered home.

Amanda was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Anderson and Mary "Mollie" Cunningham Anderson. Thomas died December 15 1865 in Chattanooga Tennessee.in the Post Hospital of the Small Pox. He was a musician in 14th Regiment USC Troops.
Mollie married Joseph Rickman April 8, 1868 in Clermont County Ohio.
