Memorial services for Marie S Atwood, Sun City, Arizona, will be at 11 am Tuesday in Mangold Funeral Home.
She was born August 31, 1908 in Corona, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Carrie May Snyder. She grew up in the La Cygne area and was a 1926 graduate of La Cygne High School. She taught for a time in a one-room country school in eastern Kansas.
She and Byron E Atwood were married in Ottawa in 1930. They moved to New York. Mr Atwood died in 1961. Arizona had been her home since 1976.
In addition to her husband, those preceding her in death were three brothers, Roy, Oscar and Lynn (sic); two sisters, Mabel and Edna; and one grandchild.
Survivors include three sons, John Atwood and Edson Atwood, Rochester, New York, and Robert Atwood, Detroit, Michigan; a daughter, Linda Harpur, Tolleson, Arizona; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The Reverend Ken Butts will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
