Richard Allen Gregory was born to William R and Mary Gregory on August 9, 1874 near Alton, Kansas. He departed this life at the Haven of Rest home in Osborne, Kansas on February 10, 1963 at the age of 88 years and 7 months. He was united in marriage to Virginia Smith at Alton on February 2, 1894. She preceded him in death. October 16, 1921. To this union were born six children: Leda F.Montgomery, who preceded him in death; George Gregory, Alton; Phoebe Busby, Wichita; Murle Snyder, Salina; Victor and Carl Gregory of Osborne. There are also 6 grandchildren of which one is deceased; 38 great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grand children; 1 surviving brother, Clayton Gregory of Osborne and 2 sisters, Floy Barber of Houston, Texas and Sadie Hunting Of Muscatine, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Amanda Mendenhall on January 1, 1924. She preceded him in death on January 24, 1962. He was a life member of the Friends church, serving as pastor of Kansas Yearly Meeting of Friends for 22 years. He was a faithful husband, father, and friend, always having a good testimony and witness for his Lord and Saviour, and he always carried a deep burden for lost souls. His passing will be mourned by many relatives amid a host of friends.
Services were held at the Mt Ayr church, Alton, with T Clio Brown and Mart Englehart in charge. Pallbearers were Robert Busby, Nathen Gregory, Paul Pletcher, Richard Gregory, Harold Bangle and Frank Husted. Interment was in Mt Ayr cemetery.
