She immigrated to the United States at 23, arriving May 28,1866 and settled in Ohio, where she met and married George Oegerle September 24, 1868 and for reasons unknown, a second marriage was performed June 11, 1869. With their baby daughter, Mary, born 1870, they traveled by covered wagon to Kansas where they claimed a homestead. Early pioneers of Geary County.
