Sharon's Obituary:
Sharon Rose Yianakopulos, 73, died from pneumonia on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Sharon was a special needs adult from Winfield who served as an inspiration to everyone who knew her.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. Ninth Ave., Winfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Twin Rivers Imagine. Imagine sponsors parties and dances for the developmentally disabled. Donations can be mailed to Miles Funeral Service in memory of Sharon Yianakopulos.

Sharon was born March 16, 1946, in Winfield, to Nicholas (deceased) and Virginia Yianakopulos. She grew up in a loving and active family. She enjoyed attending school in Oxford. Sharon lived with her parents for many years. She often could be seen clothes shopping, eating at local restaurants, visiting Eagles Nest and attending church.

She enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She loved working at the Twin Rivers workshop and attending parties and dances. She especially loved living in Arkansas City with her best friend Shelly Simpson and her fun family, and her cat Candy.

Gentle Sharon is survived by her mother, Virginia Yianakopulos, of McPherson; brother, Larry Yianakopulos and wife Sandy, of McPherson; sister, Dr. Charlotte Yianakopulos-Veatch and husband Rick, of Rocky Ford, Colo.; five nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memories of Sharon will always elicit a smile.
