Dallas Earl, the youngest child born to James W. "Jim" and Mary Leota "Ota" Chronister Burroughs, was born 14 Apr 1911, on the family farm, south of Concordia, KS. His older siblings were: Reginald, Lloyd, Wanda, Donald and Nola Dale.

Dallas' father died when he was 7 years of age. When he was about 14, the family moved to a farm in Ottawa Co. On 25 Jul 1936, Dallas married Eula Mae Headley, the daughter of George W. and Stella M. Headley. Their only child, Marvin R. Burroughs, was born 21 Mar 1939. (Marvin married Janice E. Robertson, and they had two children: Michael E. and Cynthia E.)

From his boyhood on, Dallas took a great interest in machine work and repair. He moved to Tescott at a young age, and with his mechanical talent, he worked for the Miller Motor Co. in Tescott for 16 years, and for the Gourley Motor Co. for 19 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, and of the Eagles and Moose Lodges in Salina.1910

When Dallas and Eula divorced, he married Adeline Turner Moden. Dallas died of cancer on 24 Dec 1974, and was buried in the Franklin Cemetery, in Tescott, KS. When Adeline died in 1997, she was buried beside Dallas.

M. Adeline Burroughs, 87, a longtime Salina resident, died July 19, 1997, at Heartland Regional Medical Center East, St. Joseph, MO.

Mrs. Burroughs was born M. Adeline Turner on March 4, 1910, at Marion. She owned Moden Style Shop and was a buyer for Stiefel's Department Store.

Her first husband, Carl Moden, died in 1963. Her second husband, Dallas Burroughs, died in 1974. A daughter, Joyce Koellicker, died in 1980.

Survivors include her son, Donald Moden, Salina; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Adeline was buried in the Franklin Cemetery, in Ottawa Co., beside Dallas.
