1865 - January 1944
Fort Scott Tribune Monitor, January 1944
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Uniontown yesterday afternoon for Grant Ralston, a Bourbon county pioneer. The church was filled with relatives, neighbors and friends. The Rev. Ray Nitcher, pastor of the church, conducted the services.
Interment was in the Hatch cemetery where the Masonic rites were given.
Mr. Ralston had lived on the farm where he was born for 63 years before he moved to Uniontown. His father, David Ralston settled on the place when they came to Kansas in 1854 and the farm has always been in the name of the Ralstons. The grandson, Elmer Lee Ralston, is the fourth generation to live on the homestead and it has become the home of three brides. Mr. Ralston was married to Dorothy Lee Roof December 16, 1891. There were four children. Two daughters died in infancy. A son, Elmer U. Ralston, a daughter, Mrs. Claude Ramsey and the widow, all of Uniontown survive; also one brother, Elmer Ralston, Olympia, Wash., a sister Mrs. May Drake and two aged half sisters, Mrs. Mary Mason and Mrs. M.M. Nichols all of Uniontown. Mr. Ralston accepted the Christ in faith several years ago and was a member of the Masonic lodge.
