Fort Scott Tribune, October 13, 1923
Joseph Holt, a prominent Uniontown man, died Saturday. Mr. Holt resided on a farm five miles north of Uniontown. He was the son of the late Judge J. F. Holt, and was born Jan. 8, 1862, in Bourbon County. His father was identified with early history. When Marmaton was the county seat, he hid the county papers during a massacre by border ruffians.
His parents, J. F. and Nancy Gent Holt are buried in Turkey Creek Cemetery, Bourbon County, KS. His wife Margaret A. Bowers Holt.
