January 29, 1834 - October 23, 1918

Fred Wallace Mason, youngest so of Alvin and Alpharetta Mason, was born near Uniontown, Kansas, January 29, 1893, and died in the same community, Wednesday evening, October 23, of Spanish Influenza after three days of intense suffering. He was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Drake February 22, 1916. He leaves to mourn his death a devoted wife and baby daughter, Cleta Mae, a sorrowing father, one brother, Samuel L. Mason of Uniontown, Kan., two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Rall of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Olive Vanlandingham of Oklahoma. On account of the prevalence of the dread disease a private funeral was held at the home of the deceased conducted by his pastor, Rev. Anderson of the Methodist Episcopal Church of which he was an active member. He was laid to rest in the Mason Cemetery beside his mother who died when Fred was a small boy. He was converted when a young b oy and soon after united with the Methodist (Episcopal) Church remaining a faithful member to the time of his death. He held the position of steward and was deeply interested in teh work and welfare of the church, added to this he possessed a kind and cheerful disposition always looking on the bright side of life willing and ready to help any one in trouble or need. He will be sadly missed in the home and the whole neighborhood mourns his departure for to know him was to be his friend.
