ROY L. NICHOLS
Roy L. Nichols, 77, formerly of Bronson, died this morning, March 16, 1978, at the Allen County Hospital, Iola. He had been in ill health for some time and had resided at Pinecrest Nursing Home at Humboldt since July.

Mr. Nichols was born Sept. 19, 1900, at Bronson, the son of J.E. and Pluma Turner Nichols. He attended South Fairview School. On May 20, 1923, he married Mabel Watson. The couple moved to a farm south of Bronson. Mr. Nichols had been engaged in carpentry work and farming. His wife died Feb. 22, 1978.

Mr. Nichols was a member of the Bronson Masonic Lodge and South Fairview Grange.

Surviving are three daughters, Reta Jones of Fort Scott, Thora Shinn and Margaret Ruckman, both of Iola; one son, Don Nichols of Wichita; three sisters, Viola Baker of Garden City, Bernice Gibbs of Springfield, Ill, and Dorothy Griffith of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Bronson United Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Dillon officiated. Burial was in Bronson Cemetery. There was also a graveside service.

Kunkel Chapel of Moran has charge of arrangements. The family received friends at the chapel on Saturday evening. Memorial contributions suggested to the to the Kansas Lung Association or the Bronson United Methodist Church.
