AFFIDAVIT OF MARGARET NICHOLS
FILED JULY 30 A.D. 1908 AT 11 OCLOCK A.M.
HENRY DRUMM REGISTER OF DEEDS
STATE OF KANSAS
BOURBON COUNTY
Book M-3, Page 201
Margaret Nichols being duly sworn says she is the person named as grantee in deed to U. S. Brown dated Aug. 30th 1893 wherein she and husband conveyed an interest in the South east quarter of the South East quarter of Sec 31 Township 25 Range 22 Bourbon Co Kansas. That she knows that Elizabeth Nichols died in March 1892 a widow. That she left surviving her the following named heirs and none other viz; her sons John W., J.M., Henry, Samuel F., Douglas and Andrew and her daughter Laura who married U.P. Davis that Andrew married about 20 years ago that within 3 years he and his wife separated, she going to Missouri and no word has been had from her or her whereabouts for 13 years or more. That 18 years ago Andrew went to Colorado and within a year thereafter word came to his mother that he had been badly injured in a mine accident and all efforts to hear further from him proved futile and it has been the settled conviction of his relatives since that time that he died from his injuries.

Affiant further states that neither said Andrew nor his wife have ever been in possession of said land herein described nor made any claim thereto. Affiant says that a child was born to said Andrew and she was reliably informed that it died in infancy prior to death of Elizabeth Nichols.
