John W Brown was born in Tennessee and married Elizabeth Rhoton about 1855, and had 10 children with her. When Elizabeth died in 1871 he married Lydia E Cowan in 1876 and they had one child Otis H Brown.


Elizabeth
1834 - 1871

Born in Orange Co IN. She met and married John W Brown in 1855. They moved with their family to Bourbon Co KS. She had 10 children, Eliza Jane Brown Turner, Estella "Tennessee" Brown, Josephine Brown, John "James" Brown, Sarah Brown, Elisha G Brown, William S Brown, Thomas E Brown and an infant.


Lyda
April 20, 1855 - May 17, 1940

A Rhoton Family genealogy states "Lyda" was born in Nashville, TN soon going to MO and then to Bourbon Co., KS. As a young adult "Lyda" was Mother's Helper for the John and Amanda Turner family. When Amanda died leaving several children "Lyda" married John Turner and had 4 children of her own: Otto, Pluma Edith, Lula Alice and Ruth Caroline.
"Lyda" is buried with her parents and siblings.


Tennessee
1856 - 1871

Estella was born in Tennessee. Some people believe Estella and "Tennessee" were different children......Estella's nickname was "Tennessee". Notice all the records, census, etc.....if Estella is mentioned Tennessee isn't and vice versa.

1859 - 1979

Born in Benton County, MO.


James
1861 - 1883

James was the first child born in Bourbon County, KS. And died there.


Sarah
1863 - 1865

Born and died as a small child in Bourbon County, KS.


Elisha
1865 - 1896

Born and died in Bourbon County, KS. Never married.


Thomas
1869 - 1893

Born and died in Bourbon County, KS. Never married.


Infant
Unknown - unknown
