Lenna was born in Bourbon County, KS the daughter of William S. and Minnie M. Mason. Her siblings were Elton E. and Flossie Bell Brown Rogers.
Her Mother died June 24, 1898 and her father remarried to Olive A. Perry Rhoton whose husband had died and left her with 2 children: Nettie M. and William Eli Rhoton who were Lenna's step-siblings.
Her father and step-mother soon had four children of their own: Nellie Brown-Bonner, Roy S., Chester "Otis" and Ruth A. Brown-Leadstrom.
