Donald Reece Singmaster, age 75, formerly of Fort Scott, died at the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home Tuesday morning, Nov. 23, 1999. He was born on May 22, 1924, in Fort Scott, the son of Ralph A. and Lottie Query Singmaster. He married June Ketchen in 1945, they later divorced. He married Joyce Brillhart in 1978.

He is survived by three sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Other survivors are one brother, two sisters and his wife.

Singmaster was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Donald R. Jr. and William Roy. He was a member of the First Church of God at Wall and Broadway, a past member of the Township Board, a past member of the USD 234 Board of Education, and he served 20 years on the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Committee. He received an award for outstanding service from the ASCS committee. He became an auctioneer in 1959, and he had been a member of the Co-op Board of Directors for 10 years.

Rev. Paul Shoemaker and Rev. R. B. Shoemaker conducted funeral services on Saturday, Nove. 27, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Burial was in the Clarksburg Cemetery.

The family received friends on Friday, Nov. 26, 1999 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Memorial contributions were suggested to the Fort Scott Manor Nursing Home.
