January 16, 1866 - September 15, 1930
Uniontown Cicerone, September, 1930
Effie May Burris, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Burris, was born January 16th, 1866, in Harrison County, Missouri, and departed this life September 15th, 1930, at her home in Uniontown, Kansas, at the age of 64 years, 8 months.
She was united in marriage to Siegle McKinnis in Clarinda, Iowa, January 16, 1883.
To this union nine children were born, four sons and five daughters, all of whom are living...Flora, Milton, James, Grace, Hazel, Robert ROY, Rena RUTH, Rosa, William HARVEY.
In 1899 they moved to Fort Scott, Kansas, living there about one and a half years, when they moved to Uniontown, in which vicinity she resided continuously until her death.
She was in poor health for a number of years and was taken to the hospital June 6th of this year for treatment for typhoid fever and other complications arose from which she failed to recover. She passed away on Monday morning, September 15 at four o'clock and fifteen minutes at the family home in Uniontown. Her husband and all her children, except two, were present when she passed away. This is the first time the family circle has ever been broken, covering a period of forty-seven years.
She was a devoted wife and mother and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a member of the Baptist church and was a constant and willing worker in all church activities. She was also a very active member of the Royal Neighbors.
She was the last of her parent's family, her father and mother and five brothers having preceded her a number of years ago.
