"The Ramseys of Bourbon County, Kansas A Family History" by H. Glen Wolf.
John was born April 1, 1811 in Montgomery County, OH. He died March 21,
1880 in Bourbon County, KS and is buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery. He married Annis (Anise, Annice) Harbert May 10, 1832 in Marion County, IN.
She was born April 12, 1814 in OH and died July 22, 1892 in Bourbon County, KS, buried in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
John was a farmer. He first farmed in Pike Township, Marion County, IN on the 41.45 acres and an additional 15 acres that he purchased (both) from his father, Robert Ramsey, in 1835 and 1847, respectively (see Land Transactions, Appendix, p. 196). These tracts wre later sold in 1853 to James Merrill, at which time the family moved to near Galveston, Jackson Township, Cass County, IN. During their stay in Cass County, IN, their son, Wiley married Elizabeth Fry (or Foy) on December 6, 1860, and their daughter, Aveline, married Eli Noel on December 29, 1870.
John and Annis Ramsey and their family are believed to have emigrated from Indiana to Bourbon County, KS, about 1871, eventually settling in the Walnut Hill neighborhood, near Uniontown. The family group included the parents John and Annis Ramsey, their son, Wiley, and his family, their daughter, Aveline (Ramsey) Noel, and family and another son, Allen Ramsey.
John and Annis Ramsey's children were: Simmons b. about 1836; Allen Ramsey, b. about 1838; Wiley Ramsey, born June 1840; and Aveline D. b. July 1851.
All the children were born in Marion County, IN.
