Martin Luther (Lute) Ramsey, 92, of Uniontown, died January 27, 1969 at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born Feb., 21, 1876 at Uniontown, the son of Robert and Edna Duerson Ramsey. He married Jessie Dean Wolf Nov. 27, 1898, at Uniontown. She preceded him in death.
Lute and Jessie owned the farm five miles west and south of Uniontown, KS, which they farmed for many years and on which their family were born.
They then moved to Lee's Summit, MO while Mr. Ramsey worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Missouri Highway Department 20 years and continued the same line of work after moving back to Uniontown. He was a former mayor of Uniontown and a member of the Uniontown Baptist Church.
All seven of their children survived: Mrs. Daisy Howe, Lyle and Elmo Ramsey, Uniontown; Edward Ramsey, Baxter Springs, Kan.; Frank Ramsey, Baker, Ore; Howard Ramsey, Kansas City; Mrs. Nellie Turner, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a brother and sister Robert Ramsey and Mrs. Mildred Cunningham, both of San Jose, Calif.
There are 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
