Robert Gordon Jones, 79, of Marblecrest Drive, Fort Scott, died Tuesday evening May 29, 2007, at his home.

He was born July 15, 1927 in Uniontown, Kan., the son of Carme Edgar and Lois Leona (Brown) Jones. He married Nona Katheryn Warren on February 10, 1946. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2002.

Bob graduated from Uniontown High School in 1944 and then attended Fort Scott Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a Control Tower Operator after WWII. He retired from American States Insurance Companies on December 29, 1989. He had been employed with Western Insurance for 38 years. He was a sportsman and spent much time outdoors with nature, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son; Ronald Gordon Jones and his wife Janice Bache-Jones, and one grandson; Austin Key Jones. In addition to his wife, Nona, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother; Charles Louis "Pete" Jones.

According to Bob's wishes, following cremation, there was be a graveside service on Monday, June 11, 2007, at Evergreen Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Deane Endicott.

Memorials were suggested to the Fort Scott Animal Shelter and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
